Auction nets $1K for ed fund

The Nov. 19 auction of prized items and gift certificates earned $1,262 for WPCI’s annual scholarship program, including the Hortense Myers scholarship, the Louise Eleanor Ross Kleinhenz Scholarship and the Gene and Julie Slaymaker Service to Journalism Award. The club will present the scholarships in May.

Attendees brought new and gently used (think: regifting!) items for the auction, and member Fred Granger once again served as master of ceremonies. Among the booty: tickets to performances, overnight stays in French Lick, member Margaret Nelson’s prize-winning meringues and other baked treats, a year’s membership in the Society of Professional Journalists and numerous tchotchkes and gewgaws. All the proceeds go to the scholarships.
