March meeting to focus on WPCI history

Celebrate Women’s History Month by joining fellow WPCI members at the Indiana Historical Society March 10 for lunch and a behind-the-scenes tour featuring the club’s own archives.

WPCI entrusted its archives to IHS several years ago, and now the collection includes catalogued boxes of meeting minutes, newspaper articles, photos and memorabilia. Suzanne Hahn, vice president of archives and library at IHS, will conduct the tour and show how the collection is stored an accessed.

The IHS is at 420 W. Ohio St. in Indianapolis. Stop by the reception desk for directions to our meeting space.

Agenda:

  • 11 a.m. Business meeting, featuring reports on professional and high school contests, scholarships and the June awards luncheon.
  • Noon: Lunch from the IHS Stardust Cafe.
  • 12:45 p.m. Tour begins.

Parking is available in the IHS lot: From West Street, turn east onto New York Street and take the first right into the parking lot. Parking is free if you have your parking ticket validated at the reception desk. WPCI guests do not have to pay admission.

Stay after the tour to take in the other exhibits at IHS, including “You are There,” featuring the POW camp at Atterbury; live performances in the Cole Porter Room; or the pocket watches suspended form the ceiling in Eli Lilly Hall.

Organizer and WPCI member Elizabeth Granger suggests bringing friends and colleagues, especially potential members, to show them some of WPCI’s interests and activities.
