Woman’s Press Club of Indiana celebrated the best work of communicators in the state and awarded scholarships and grants at its annual banquet April 26 in Indianapolis.

The annual contest, coordinated with the National Federation of Press Women, honors work completed in 2024 in categories covering all media communication. Entrants range from professionals to college students, and the club conducts a separate contest for high school journalists.
First-place entries in the WPCI contest move on to compete with those of other NFPW affiliates. Winners will be announced at the NFPW conference in September.
WPCI winners include:
Elizabeth Granger: First place in agriculture, travel, green/environmental, education, hobby, arts and entertainment, business, style, science, history and food. Second place in religion and social issues. Granger also is the Honeycomb Winner, an award for those with the most points accumulated over all entries.
Natalie Hoefer: First in social issues, religion, photography-writer and single poem. Second place in arts and entertainment. Honorable mention in obituary, expanded.
Kennedy McDonald: First in graphics.
Julie McGue: Second in personal essay and web/personal blog. Third in personal opinion. Honorable mention in personal opinion.
Diane Moore: First, second, third and honorable mention in features.
Kassie Ritman: First in obituary.
Collegiate winners:
Emily Bontrager: First in news.
Abby Harvey: First in sports.
Sydney Leyerle: Second in collegiate online news.
Lucas Vargo: Second in collegiate news.
Bryce Crossman: Third in collegiate online news.
Kenzie Ogden: Honorable mention in collegiate news.
NFPW has announced that Bontrager, Granger, Harvey, Hoefer, McDonald and Ritman all have been awarded at the national level, with details to come at the conference celebration.
