March meeting features expert panel

Woman’s Press Club of Indiana will tap into its own members’ expertise for a panel discussion on professional development as part of its spring meeting March 23.

Members and guests will gather at the home of member Natalie Hoefer to hear this panel:

Past president Tara Puckey on “How I Do That: Balancing work and family life.” Puckey is director of strategic initiatives for the Radio, Television, Digital News Association and formerly was deputy executive director of Society of Professional Journalists. She and her husband are raising two busy teenage daughters.

Slaymaker

Treasurer Julie Slaymaker on “Interviewing Techniques.” Slaymaker has earned many awards for her writing, including profile feature stories. A former newspaper journalist, broadcast radio reporter and magazine writer, Slaymaker has been honored by WPCI, National Federation of Press Women, UPI, Society of Professional Journalists and National Headliners Club.

Granger

Vice president Elizabeth Granger on “The ABCs of Freelance Writing.” Granger also is a frequent award-winner for her stories and photos that have appeared in travel and lifestyle magazines. A retired high school journalism teacher and adviser, Granger has concentrated on her freelance work since her retirement.

The meeting will begin with a brief business meeting to select a new slate of officers and discuss the group’s communications banquet in April.
